# Iron on the edge band

Cut melamine to width and iron on the edge banding. Thereafter position the banding so that is overhand the side ends. Let the banding cool prior to trimming and so set your iron to the cotton setting and iron the banding in 2-3 passes. Then check the edges for loose spots and make one more pass in case of necessity. In case you damage the banding while trimming, just reheat it and put it to start-over again. You need to learn more about edge banding before you start this process.

# Drill shelf support holes

Drill ¼ inch shelf support holes through cabinet side using scrap of peg-board. For end panel use a stop collar over drill-bit as it won’t support the shelves. Now, the adjustable shelves rests over shelf support fitted into drill holes inside the side cabinet. You need to drill all the way through sides that support shelves inside/out.

Check your shelf support prior to drilling and use a brad point drill for cleaning chip free holes. In order to limit blowout, use a set backer underneath. Now, you can make a drilling guide using any materials, however a pegboard is perfectly a ready made guide. Next, label the bottom of your guide and cabinet sides so that every hole will remain aligned.

# Build fixed shelves & assemble cabinets

In this process you can use cut parts to length using a cross cut guide. Now a stop block screw to guide let you produce lengths in mass and as you need to support the melamine on both sides, make use of fixed shelves between the cabinet sides. Next, pain the 1*4s to match the melamine and with cabinets less than 4 ft, keep them over top and bottom shelves. To make the fixed shelves, cut melamine and 1*4 just identically and screw them altogether.

Next, assemble the cabinets in simple manner to fasten the sides to the fixed shelves. Drive and predrill screws near the front of each fixed shelf and make sure that band edge of sides and shelves are flush. Then drive and drill another screw back to the cabinet for holding shelf in position prior to adding the other screws.

# Hang the doors

Screw hinges to the cabinet. Position the top/bottom hinges ¼ inch from each space and corner equally apart. Make the doors after the cabinet boxes assembled to hand doors, cabinets and screw hinges. You can use 4 hinges for e4ach of 12 inch wide double doors and opt either for single wide doors using at least 5 hinges. These hinges are strong enough to hold much weight and need to be fastened with at-least 2 screws each.

Since the particle board core of melamine doesn’t hold screws well, you need to add more hinges. Now, measure the biggest in between to determine the door width and cut the doors setting them in place to check the fitting prior to banding the edges. When doors are completely screwed to hinges, label each cabinet and doors and unscrew them to make installation easy.

# Mount the cabinet

Fasten the ledger to the wall frame choosing a straight sure ledge level. Don’t install cabinet directly to garage floors since water dripping might destroy the particle board. So level it up with enough space allowing easy and floor sweeping. Also consider the height to level and fasten the wall framing driving screws into studs and sill plates.

# Upper cabinets

Build the upper cabinets with similar technique and material used for the uprights. The upper cabinet provides enclosed and deep storage space that ties the upright cabinet together that cannot twist away from the wall. Thus, instead of installing upper-cabinet, run a long shelf across the top up right cabinet.

Minimize measuring & math errors and build upper cabinet after the up right cabinet is in place. Remember to add hinge spacer to dividers for installing hinges back-to-back.

# Shelves and hardware come last

Cut the shelves at very end of the project and take exact measurement inside/between shelves using any scraps. Finally install cabinet pulls or knobs after the doors are in place to make drilling a hole just at the right place.

After you’ve read all the above mentioned steps under the right guidance and perfect procedure, you are now ready to build one garage cabinet for your house. Adopt these simple steps and learn the correct and easy order to make one for you through using right measurement and tools.

Applying the sure given ideas will generally bring to build a standard garage cabinet of your custom choice and design rightly fit for your room and necessity.
